FAQ
Your Photos Now and in the Future
Q: I just ordered several photos to decorate my office. Exactly what am I getting?
A:
We will send you a rolled color print, printed on quality photographic paper. It will come rolled in a sturdy mailing tube and when you receive it, it will be ready to mat and frame. All of the photos use standard size frames. For best results, we suggest dry mounting the photos.
The photos will be sent to you via U.S. Mail.
Q: Why should we bookmark www.photo-geo-graphics.com?
A:
For two good reasons:
#1 We'll continue to add new subjects to the gallery. There are a lot of new photos to be displayed in the weeks and months to come.
#2 There will be regular specials - either by category, by destination or by size. So you won't want to miss the opportunity to buy photos for yourself or for gifts when the special offers are made. And to make certain you don't miss any opportunities, register your email address with us and we'll automatically notify you when we have special offers.
Q: Do you sell your photos as stock photography.
A:
Yes. Please email us and include the photo(s) you have interest in. Provide the dimensions and resolution that you need and we will mail you the photo via CD.
The Equipment and Film
Q: What camera(s) are you using?
A:
The vast majority of the shots were taken with a Pentax Super ME. Now retired, it has been replaced with Nikon N-75s: one with a 28-90mm lens and the other with 80-400mm lens.
Q: What about digital?
A:
Jim has not crossed into that territory yet. Mary has become a good photographer and launched her photography career with digital equipment.
All of our film has been digitized, as a measure of "insurance" but with the exception of repairing some pinholes and scratches, no enhancements, cropping or other alterations have been done. What you see is exactly what has come off the 35mm film.
Q: So what film are you using?
A:
With the exception of the photos with a 0700-0950 product code, all of the film is print. That small section of the collection was taken on slide film (and most of those shots were taken prior to 1990). Don't be surprised if some of the photos were taken of places no longer in existence; example: #802-Berlin wall, #0923-Lucayan Beach (Bahamas) lighthouse and, of course, #0500-World Trade Center.
And the film: 90% Kodak, balance Fuji and rarely anything other than ASA 100 and ASA 200.
The Travel
Q: Have you been to all of these places?
A:
Strange as it may seem, this is one of the most consistent questions we get at shows. Yes we have.
We always travel independently-never in group tours-allowing us to "get off the beaten path."
We also study travel books prior to traveling somewhere and make a plan of the "photo-ops" we want to make sure we cover.
And there are disappointments with weather or conditions, but that is the luck of the draw.
Q: How have you gotten to some of these places?
A:
Normal business travel took us to the major destinations but early on in the publishing career, a colleague (who loved to travel) suggested that whenever going to a popular destination, "add-on" a second destination that might be little more exotic or harder to get to on a regular basis. Example: add an Iceland stop-over to a Frankfurt trip.
Q: Where are the photos from Iceland?
A:
Gone! The camera and film were stolen from the suitcase at a connecting airport, so for Iceland and a few other places we've visited, there are no photos, just memories.
